Support Ukraine

My Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I have been working at BC Children’s Hospital for more than 5 years. Many of you are aware that I am Ukrainian. No doubt, you have heard about the war which started in Ukraine when Russian soldiers crossed the border of my homeland after the President of Russia announced that he wants to invade Ukraine in order to change the government.

Please believe me when I say that Ukraine is fighting for its freedom and independence. It was betrayed by its eastern neighbor. My family, my parents and friends, all Ukrainians are facing the biggest war since WW2. The scale of this war is unbelievable and will change the world for many decades. The Ukrainian army is fighting back, brave and strong! It has support of its government, armory and defense systems. They still need provisions, medicine, and disposables however. All Ukrainians these days are donating to their army, especially those who are living abroad, in particular Ukrainian Communities living in Canada. The Ukrainian population contributes significantly to the greater good of this beautiful country, to its economy and future. I am very proud to live and work in Canada at BC Children’s Hospital. I have called this place “home” for many years now. Today I am asking for help, not for me, but for Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) and the Canada-Ukraine Foundation (CUF) announced the establishment of a Humanitarian Relief Committee in preparation of the humanitarian crisis ensuing from further Russian invasion of Ukraine. The committee will work with the Ukrainian Canadian community across Canada to reduce duplication of effort, increase efficiency and ensure aid efforts have the most effective impact for Ukrainian citizens affected by crisis. I am asking you to consider making a little contribution to the foundation. Even a small commitment will make difference. It is an official organization and everyone will get an immediate receipt for Tax purposes. Donations in support of humanitarian relief can be made at either the Canada-Ukraine Foundation or Red Cross.
