The affairs of the Society shall be managed by a Board of seven (7) Directors, which shall consist of:
a) One Regional Director from each of the four (4) regions. Each Regional Director shall serve as a Director of the Society for a term of three (3) years; Two of these Regional Directors shall also hold the offices of Treasurer and Executive Secretary, as appointed by the Board from among the Regional Directors.; and
b) Three (3) additional Directors shall serve successively in the roles of President Elect, President, and Past President, each for a one (1) year term in that role, for a total term of three (3) years. These positions shall be filled by election of the voting membership at the Annual General Meeting, by secret ballot conducted via a secure virtual platform. The individual elected as President Elect shall automatically progress through the roles of President and Past President in successive years.
Directors shall take office at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting at which they are elected or appointed.
Both Regional Directors and Directors may be re-elected after the expiry of his or her respective term on the Board. At least two-thirds (2/3) of the Directors of the Society at any particular time must be Certified Members in good standing.
Usama graduated with a Specialist in Neuroscience, Honours Degree from the University of Toronto. He then studied Cardiovascular Perfusion at the Michener Institute and graduated in 2020.
Usama works as a Clinical Perfusionist at The University of Ottawa Heart Institute and The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. He serves as a Union Steward on the Local Executive Committee for OPSEU Local 464 and is a member of their Local Bargaining Committee. Usama has taken additional training by the Hospital Professionals Division (HDP) to promote the attainment of improved working conditions for and the general advancement of paramedical professionals.
Usama joined the CSCP Board of Directors in October 2023.

Savy serves as the Chief Perfusionist at Kelowna General Hospital as well as an Instructor with the BCIT Cardiovascular Perfusion Program. Before specializing in perfusion, he trained in nursing, respiratory therapy, and anesthesia assistance. His professional interests include program development and advancing practice initiatives. Savy has been privileged to contribute to the establishment of the Kelowna General Hospital Cardiac Surgical Program, the BCIT Perfusion School, and supports the BC perfusion community as a consultant as we move forward with licensure.
Outside of work, Savy enjoys spending time with my wife and children, running, biking, and caring for saltwater aquariums.


Jo-Anne was the Clinical Lead Perfusionist at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon and has been a Canadian and American board-certified perfusionist since graduating from the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences in 2001. Leading up to her career in perfusion, Jo-Anne attained her B.Sc. from the University of Winnipeg, followed by a diploma in Respiratory therapy from the School of Respiratory Therapy, Health Sciences Center, Winnipeg. Working as a perfusionist, Jo-Anne attained a Master of Science, Health Sciences Program, from the University of Saskatchewan in 2011. Jo-Anne has been on the Document Review Committee for the CSCP since 2009.
With a career to date focused predominantly on research and publication, Jo-Anne cherishes the opportunity to further serve her professional society.
Jo-Anne joined the CSCP Board of Directors in October 2023.

Steve is a clinical perfusionist - certified (CPC) in Canada with over 25 years of experience in both adult and pediatric surgery. In that time, he served on the CSCP accreditation, competency, examination committee (ACE), discipline committee, and, presently, the CSCP board of directors. Clinically, he has provided services to pediatric humanitarian groups in many developing countries, namely in Central and South America, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia.
Steve joined the CSCP Board of Directors in October 2024.

Joshua completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Waterloo before pursuing Nursing at York University. He began his clinical career as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, where he developed a strong foundation in acute and critical care.
Joshua's passion for cardiovascular health led him to study Cardiovascular Perfusion at the Michener Institute of Education at UHN. He currently works at Hamilton General Hospital as the ECLS coordinator. Before this role, he gained experience as the clinical coordinator at St. Mary’s General Hospital and Hamilton General Hospital.
In addition to Joshua's clinical responsibilities, he is deeply committed to healthcare advocacy, transparency, and equity. Together with colleagues, he has led two comprehensive wage reviews of Ontario hospitals to strengthen fairness and inclusion across the province. He is equally passionate about interdisciplinary and inter-hospital collaboration; in his ECLS role, he has engaged with ECMO programs and nurse/RT training initiatives at London Health Sciences Centre and Toronto General Hospital to inform and advance program development in Hamilton.
Guillaume worked as an ICU nurse for 7 years and graduated from the University of Montreal’s perfusion program in 2022. He has worked as a clinical perfusionist at IUCPQ since then.
Guillaume is no stranger to advocating for his colleagues and was an administrator of the CADEUL during his nursing studies at Université Laval. He was also part of the local “New Nurse Council” while eligible at his hospital. He believes that the position of Quebec Regional Representative on the CSCP Board of Directors presents the perfect opportunity for him to take on a more significant role in his profession.
